Slide in stocks: DSE dives 87 pt, CSE 143 Tuesday

The price indices on Dhaka Stock Exchange and Chittagong Stock Exchange lost 87 and 143 points Tuesday in a repeat of fall on the third day of the week as investors’ shaken confidence is yet to be restored.
The benchmark general index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DGEN Index) gained over 65 points within the first five minutes of trading, but soon took a downturn with a fluctuating trend in share prices.
At the close of day’s trading, the index shed over 87 points to stand down at 5,817.
Of the traded issues, 219 declined, 24 advanced and eight remained unchanged.
Chittagong stocks also marked a sharp fall Tuesday, with the CSE Selective Categories Index climbing down to 10408 by dropping 143 points.
Out of the issues traded on the day, 155 declined, 28 gained and six remained unchanged.
Meanwhile, both the bourses have already urged the government to allow money whitening through the stock market as a stimulus to make the market stable by restoring investors’ confidence in the manipulation-ridden capital market.
