Stocks skid

Prices of most shares traded on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) in the first trading day of the week have plummeted.
Of the 251 issues traded on Sunday, 184 declined, 60 gained and seven remained unchanged.
The turnover slid to Tk 4.39 billion from Tk 5.35 billion of Thursday.
Struggling to maintain the uptrend in the first half of the day, the DSE general index lost 28.66 points or 0.46 percent to 6184.19 points around 12:30pm.
The index continued the downtrend and declined 40.56 points or 0.65 percent to close at 6172.29 points.
It had shot up 43.45 points or 0.69 percent to 6256 points around 11:06am and lost around 23 points in the next 40 minutes to 6232.86 points. The DSE general index had gained 50.18 points or 0.81 percent to close at 6212.86 points on Thursday.
On Wednesday, the index dropped slightly as the losers evened out the gainers.
Investors took to the streets several times this month to protest against sharp falls in share prices.
