Stocks slip further into the red

Stocks continued its negative trend with bumpy trading for a second day as investors went for panic sell-offs fearing further instability in the market.
The benchmark General Index, DGEN of Dhaka Stock Exchange, closed on 6,112 points, after declining 60 points or 0.97 percent.
Turnover on the premier bourses stood at Tk 354 crore, nearing a two-month low. It is a 19.5 percent decline from the previous day. DSE turnover was Tk 341 crore on June 20.
Non-bank financial institutions gained 0.23 percent, while banks lost 1.26 percent, reaching 27.9 percent of market capitalisation.
ICB AMCL Islamic Mutual Fund was the biggest gainer of the day, posting a 3.36 percent rise, while MJL Bangladesh was the worst loser, slumping by 11.08 percent.
Chittagong Stock Exchange declined yesterday as the Selective Categories Index, CSCX of CSE, lost 118 points, or 1.04 percent, to end the day at 11,196.
