Dhaka stocks ended the week almost flat on Thursday amid high volatility throughout the session with lower turnover as investors' confidence remain very low.
Market operators said the market suffered severe liquidity crisis and the current spell of volatility had already spread panic among the investors.
The market witnessed high volatility during the first three hours and the last part of the trading session, it tried to break the bearish sentiment but failed to sustain the momentum because of the strong sell pressure and finally closed only five points higher.
The benchmark General Index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, DGEN, ended at 5,966.51, rising 5.77 points or 0.09 per cent.
Total transaction amounted to Tk 2.95 billion which was 21.9 per cent lower than previous day's Tk 3.79 billion indicating increased reluctance of the investors to participate in the market.
